Hi All
Interestingly this has happened to us this week. We work in partnership
with another provider - they do some work for us and we are now starting to
work for them. We have just received a referral with the underlying
question wanting to know whether we are on Part 3. I am not, as life and 2
very big managerial jobs in the late 90s and early 2000s seemed to make
converting my 1990 - 92 Bristol University OHNC to anything else a bit
unnecessary - and I didn't have the time anyway. (I do, I might add ensure
I keep up to date in other ways) Also, having interviewed many OHAs over
the years on Part 3 that I wouldn't ask to give a flu jab, this is a bit of
personal bugbear of mine. Fortunately this issue doesn't come up often,
and my excellent colleague is on Part 3 so our client will be happy.
However, I remain far from convinced that being on Part 3 is any measure of
OHA quality.
Thanks
Lindsey

Subject: Re: [OCC-HEALTH] Part 3 of the register and MSc OH
Hi Anne
Thanks for this information. One of the reasons I raised the question was
that I had had a conversation with a recruitment agent regarding roles they
were recruiting to for a provider. I was told that the provider had
stipulated OHAs on part 3 of the register only and the reason given was that
their SLAs required it. I am concerned that some providers may make this an
integral part of future tenders thus excluding those of us who have equally
good experience and non NMC approved courses. I also wonder whether
employers understand that my qualification and experience is just as good as
that of Someone who holds the SCPHN.
