BBC Arabic Film and Documentary Film Festival (Aan Korb)
Close Up Stories from the New Middle East
The Aan Korb Film and Documentary Festival is organised by BBC Arabic in partnership with the British Council. The Festival will take place at New Broadcasting House in London, from 31 October-3 November, 2014 and brings to the world’s attention to a series of remarkable stories from the Middle East.
The festival highlights the very best of fiction and non-fiction filmmaking, exploring issues that are all, in their disparate ways, highly relevant to the Arab world today. It includes documentary films, non-fiction films that have a creative twist and films whose stories are fictional but inspired by their place and time. All are informed by real current events, real places and real stories.
The festival sheds the light on real life stories from the complex Arab world - some harrowing, some joyful, all of them meaningful - of ordinary people who are living through extraordinary times. Aan Korb presents a total of 20 documentaries, citizen journalism and short films. Each screening will feature an opportunity to hear from the filmmakers themselves. These voices and stories deserve to be heard.
