Hi Rosie
We've gone down the web-app route for the simple reason we know more people can access our content than if we produced a native app. It also has made the project funding go further.
I'm talking about our Moor Stories work http://moorstories.org.uk/ at the conference next week. The initial website was produced with a related product, Church Detective http://www.churchdetective.org.uk/ , in three months for under £7k.
The current version had a larger budget and a longer development time.
We also went gone down the web-app route for a product to support an exhibition - Masters of the Moor http://www.mastersofthemoor.org.uk/
Currently we are looking at making our collections online database responsive.
In all cases we had plenty of content to work with before we started development. If we had needed to create the content as well as the platform that would have added to costs because of staff time.
You're welcome to contact me off list if any of these would be a useful case study for you.
Regards
Rick
