Hello
This list has been very quiet, so I thought I would share what we have been doing at University of the Arts London over the summer.
We have completed access audits in four of our libraries to try and improve the accessibility of our spaces. We are now working through the short- and medium-term actions. Some of these are quite small things, but hopefully will help to improve the student experience of using the libraries. These include adding a stool near the photocopiers so students can sit down while waiting for large jobs and making sure that a chair is available at the help desks for longer enquiries.
One issue that came up in several of the libraries was that the height-adjustable tables are not often adjusted – even though most of them have very easy mechanisms. We are thinking of adjusting the heights periodically to show they can be moved (at the moment the default position is as a standard table). Has anyone tried this, or other ways to improve use of the tables? I’d be interested to hear any success (or not!) stories.
Thanks
Sara
