There was a good talk by someone from RAL on iRODs.
What I got from that talk is that the main advantage of iRODs over SRM
is that it allows things to be triggered by placing files on the storage.
If you put a picture on there, it could ensure it was replicated 3 times
and that a thumbnail was created (for example).
rucio and Dirac both have some of that functionality - again without
actually having used that functionality in either.
Chatting to Tom Whyntie, he's used the ability to label one dataset as
derived from another in Dirac.
