I worked with my legal and L.E.A. on ours which at the top of every page says:
Please note: This is NOT a replacement of a School Risk Assessment. Teachers should follow Suffolk E.A. and / or DfE guidelines and write their own
Our R.A. acts in the least as a form of bringing to the notice of school staff how operating in a C12th building is somewhat different from other buildings.

Subject: risk assessments
Hello Everyone,
I'm wondering what your view is about offering risk assessments for visiting schools? We are starting a new education programme at the Framework Knitters Museum in Ruddington, Nottingham, and I have done what I think is a fairly comprehensive risk assessment. But I'm finding that there seem to be two camps in the museum community on this - those who do their own as a matter of course, to draw in teachers who are too busy to do a risk assessment themselves, and those who think it is very
risky(!) to provide what appears to be cover, as if something unforeseen happens the museum could be liable. I've looked on various museum websites, and quite a few offer a risk assessment for visits to their museums. Does anyone know the legal position, and the sensible way forward here?
If anyone wants collated replies I'd be happy to send them.
All good wishes to all!
Deb Martin
