Dear all -
BASEES is holding its annual committee meeting at the end of this month, and will be discussing a range of issues raised by different committee members. As postgraduate representative, I'm keen to present any ideas, interests, or concerns any of you may have at the committee meeting. If there is anything that anyone would like discussed, please contact me directly at [log in to unmask]
Further to this, I would be interested for feedback on a peer-review scheme for postgraduate participants at the BASEES annual conference, which I'm planning to suggest at the committee meeting. Given that the BASEES conference is one of the first opportunities many postgraduates and PhD students have to present their work in an academic forum, I think it would be valuable for people to be able to receive supportive and friendly feedback on their presentation style and content. The scheme I have in mind would allow postgraduates planning to present at the conference to request another postgraduate or academic to attend their paper presentation and offer constructive feedback on a one-to-one basis after the panel has ended. If this scheme would interest you, or if you have any comments or recommendations for it, please let me know on the email address above.
All the best,
Alistair.
