About the panellists:
Chris Hughes is a Professor of International Politics and Japanese Studies at the University of Warwick, a Research Associate at the Centre for the Study of Globalisation and Regionalisation, and Head of the Department of Politics and International Studies. He has held positions at Hiroshima University and the University of Tokyo and is currently an Associate in Research at Harvard's Reischauer Institute of Japanese Studies.
Shashank Joshi is a Senior Research Fellow of the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), a leading think tank based in London, and a PhD Candidate at the Department of Government, Harvard University. He specialises in the international politics of South Asia and the Middle East, with a particular interest in Indian foreign and security policy, nuclear weapons, and civil-military relations and regularly contributes to British and international media.
Oliver Turner is the Hallsworth Fellow in Political Economy at the University of Manchester. He is the author of “American Images of China: Identity, Power, Policy” (Routledge, 2014) and articles on US-Sino relations and the rise of China in journals such as Review of International Studies, Third World Quarterly and The Political Quarterly.
