Hi there,
I thought some list members might be interested to read about our current project. We have funding from the AHRC for ‘Exploring British Design’, a collaborative project between the Archives Hub and Brighton Design Archives. Our aim is (1) to engage with researchers, looking how they research and how they understand archives (2) to investigate different routes through content, treating archives as a part of the information landscape that researchers can navigate through (3) to create an interface that attempts to provide a new perspective on archive collections, and (4) to investigate EAC-CPF as a standard for name authorities. We are also working with the Design Museum, investigating whether we can utilise their design library content.
All somewhat ambitious in a one-year project, but it is a great opportunity to think differently, while engaging researchers so that we are aware of their research behaviours and also to make them more aware of the nature and complexity of archives.
We have three blog posts so far, and more to come: http://archiveshub.ac.uk/blog/topics/exploring-british-design/
with kind regards,
Jane.
