Dear All,
Thanks for the many responses, I hope to get back to you all individually. I deliberately kept it open to see what people said they were doing and achieving with their staff and set ups and have had some very interesting responses. Naturally the fewest staff are in the private and charitable sectors (and some academic institutions) offering appointments upon request and/or serving a quite specific community of users. Many also use staff and infrastructure within an existing building so do not have the security issues of a separate building and can sometimes use staff from elsewhere in the same organisation.
I am looking at a public sector service but it is always useful to get a view from different areas who may have thought of other ways of doing things.
I will try to do a summary for the list shortly but in the meantime any other thoughts are welcome.
Thanks
Jenny
