This is a randomised controlled trial of use of virtual wards in patients
discharged from hospital at high risk of readmission and shows no benefit of
virtual wards over usual care (both described).
The output measurements, both primary and secondary look reasonable from the
abstract.
As we are all into care in the community, does this say anything about the
probability that similar intensive input for patients at discharge would
provide value for money?
(I don't think this should influence, one way or the other, the use of
virtual wards for other patient groups)
