As announced by Martin Donnelly of the DCC, the next Research Data Management Forum in November will have a focus on linking data with publications. At UEL our brand new data repository (data.uel) has the ability to link to items in our publications repository (ROAR); easily done, but the linked item is then itself updated with a link back to the data collection. I was mindful in designing an institutional data repository that deposits of data and of publications may happen at different moments, but yet wanted a way to express their relationship across two separate repositories each kept updated with relevant links.
There is a sample data collection available in data.uel at http://dx.doi.org/10.15123/DATA.3. You will see a prominent link underneath the download option to the report in ROAR which made use of the dataset. If you follow this link you will see the publication has a corresponding link to the dataset, added automatically by the ePrints software.
Within the next week or so, we will publish the first deposit of a real dataset from a senior researcher at UEL - one with a much wider audience than my repository statistics, and of proper academic value!
Regards,
Steve
