di_stanze festival at Leeds
Location: School of Music, University of Leeds
Dates: 1-2 November 2014
Coordinated by the Sicilian association CIMA (Interdisciplinary Centre for Art Music), di_stanze is a travelling festival and includes a web of organizations led by a common aim: experimentation in sound and art, and its dissemination through the internet. The festival hopes to involve, as years go by, an ever-increasing number of organizations with the aim of dealing with and investigating various genres, and in order to meet different tastes and to foster discovery of new languages.
For the Leeds edition of the festival, CePRA (the Center for Practice-led Research in the Arts at the University of Leeds) is preparing a two-day event over a single weekend, on 1-2 November 2014 at the School of Music. The event will comprise by a series of curated sessions, in which creative artistic works will be presented, discussed verbally, and performed: this will provide an environment where different approaches can be discovered and compared. The final session of the event will be a round table open to all participants, aimed at discussing insights on artistic creation and practice-led research.
Events will include:
- A keynote lecture by Thor Magnusson
- An organ, voice and electronics concert by Lauren Redhead
- A turntable concert by Will Baldry
- A Disklavier showcase concert curated by Oliver Thurley
- A fixed-media electroacoustic concert curated by James Mooney and Ewan Stefani
The festival is free to all participants and audience members.
