When I see things like this it makes me want to weep - is it really necessary to spend £135,250 to create a website, some digital products (Including a project Mobile App) and associated hardware? Do we as a sector get conned into thinking we have to spend this sort of money or is it a realistic figure? I wish I knew!

Subject: [MCG] Advice on where to advertise for digital media companies - to design and deliver website and associated digital products for a large HLF project
Dear All,
Doncaster Heritage Service has been awarded a large grant from HLF to deliver a heritage project focused on Doncaster Borough's First World War heritage over the next five years. A significant aspect of this project is the development of a heritage website and associated products (mobile app, games, podcasts, online exhibitions etc). The website will also have a significant part to play in crowd sourcing and will be a portal for the borough's residents to share their heritage digitally with us and with each other as well as help develop parts of the projects objectives to record (and digitally capture and share) specific heritage.
Within the next few weeks we will be putting out to tender for the following contracts:
· Contract to deliver the digital resource (website), digital products (Including a project Mobile App) and associated hardware (this contract will go to European tender as it is to the value of £135,250)
· Project Digital Content Officer (responsible for the day to day management of the site, digital content, user accounts and creation of digital policies and guidelines)
Can list members offer any advice on where best (other than here, obviously) to advertise these contracts? In our Round 1 application we advertised in the Guardian and through the Museums Association and a few other outlets for a digital company to help us develop a specification and maintenance and management plan for our round 2 submission, but got limited response.
Any advice or pointers you can offer would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Peter
