Dear Lis-ARLG members
I am working on behalf of Research Libraries UK (RLUK) and The National Archives (TNA) to produce a guide to cross-sector collaboration between the archive and higher education (HE) sectors.
The guide will cover:
- the mechanics of forming partnerships or collaborations
- sustaining collaborations
- an overview of HE funding opportunities
- a glossary of key academic terms and explanation of academic drivers and KPIs
The guide will bring together examples of collaboration (e.g. teaching, research, outreach and engagement, activities to fulfil corporate agendas) and share the experience of those who have been involved in building and sustaining partnerships.
We are seeking input from both the archive and higher education communities (and archives based in HE!) to identify the key issues encountered when forming partnerships, what makes a successful collaboration, what causes things to go wrong, and all those things you wish you'd known at the outset.
We would also like to hear from colleagues who would like to form partnerships, but so far have been unable to do so: what has prevented you? what support or information would be of help?
There are several different ways you can take part.
1. You can reply to me with comments, views and experience on the above by email ([log in to unmask])
2. You can complete a short questionnaire at http://www.preservationmatters.co.uk/collaboration-project.html
3. You can volunteer to be contacted for a short telephone interview in September to run through the questions at the link above (please email me if you are interested in this).
4. You can email me links to projects which could form case studies to illustrate aspects of collaborative working within the guidance.
Thank you in advance for your help and your willingness to share experience (good and bad) to make it easier for archives and HE institutions to work together in the future. Answers sent directly to me and submitted via the website will be treated in confidence.
Kind regards
Caroline
