conference advertised below.
This year Claflin is celebrating our 145th year and the conference is part
of that celebration. Also, those of us who are affiliated with the African
Diaspora Studies would like to use this event to re-launch our revised and
reinvigorated program.

*“The African Diaspora from an Afrocentric Perspective”*

November 9-13, 2014
The research symposium will involve local, regional, national and
international themes, concepts, theories and methodological approaches used
in the study of the Diaspora. Abstracts are welcomed that address, but are
not limited to: pedagogical approaches of the disciplines, music and art,
science and medicine, gender and sexuality, economics and economic systems,
the Griot Tradition, literature and languages, the virtual Diaspora, global
Blackness and politics. Papers in languages other than English (Spanish,
Portuguese, French, Swahili, Creole and Dutch) and from countries other
than the United States are particularly encouraged.
*Abstracts, not to exceed two pages, should be submitted with title of
paper, presenter’s name, home and institution/organization postal address
and e-mail should be postmarked by: September 30, 2014.*
