FINAL REMINDER! The Volunteering Survey will close this Friday, 3rd October. Don't miss this opportunity to make your voice heard!
The Archives & Records Association (ARA) is seeking to find out more about the volunteer experience in archives and records management services across the UK and Ireland. Who is volunteering and why? How do they become volunteers and what activities are they undertaking? What do they get out of the experience and could this be improved?
We want to hear directly from those currently volunteering - whether it is to gain work experience or for fun. The ARA has created a short online survey which is available via https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/VPFKS9V. The survey will be open until Friday 3rd October and all responses are anonymous.
If you are a volunteer, please help us by sharing your thoughts via the survey.
If you are involved in volunteer management, please encourage your volunteers to take part and, if possible, facilitate them in accessing the survey.
This research builds on last year’s report on Managing Volunteers in Archives produced by Caroline Williams on behalf of ARA which looked at the role of volunteers from an organisational perspective, and will be compared against a similar survey undertaken in 2009 by the National Council on Archives. These reports are available, alongside other good practice guidance and case studies on volunteering at http://www.archives.org.uk/campaigns/volunteering-reports-and-case-studies.html. We hope to share the findings of this survey with the sector via the ARA website later in the year.
