3.1 Citizen Maths - a CC-BY licensed open online maths course at level 2
The Citizen Maths web site is now live at http://citizenmaths.com/, and the course itself goes live on or around 12 September. All assets are CC-BY licensed, as explained in the Citizen Maths attribution statement: http://citizenmaths.com/attribution-statement/. All course videos will be accessible (if not now, then soon) from outside the course from the Citizen Maths YouTube channel. The success of this first phase of Citizen Maths will depend crucially on the feedback that we obtain. We are particularly keen to get feedback from:
* learners who do the course;
* those with an interest in the learning and teaching of maths, and in the design of online courses.
There is a link to a feedback form on every page of the Citizen Maths web site, and on every page of the course.

The Learning, Teaching & Technology Centre at the Dublin Institute of Technology has just opened for registration an accredited online module ‘Technology Enhanced Learning, Teaching & Assessment’ (TELTA). This accredited CPD module (5 ECTS) will give participants the opportunity to immerse themselves in existing and emerging learning technologies. A unique approach will be taken to this module in that participants will be required to set their own personal learning objectives at the outset, thereby enabling them to reflect on the weekly topics from their own professional perspectives.

In 2011-13 the Australian Government Office for Learning and Teaching funded a project aimed at exploring Blended Synchronous Learning, which entails bringing together on-campus and distributed learners to partake in shared, real-time experiences. The project focused on three technologies—videoconferencing, webconferencing and 3D virtual worlds—as well as learning designs involving the use of these technologies to simultaneously engage students and teachers in collaborative activities irrespective of their location. A national scoping survey was conducted, and seven case studies were followed and investigated through participatory evaluation.
