Quantitative Research Associate (part-time) 30 months. £35,256 pro rata.
School of Social and Community Medicine, University of Bristol
Starting date 1st November 2014, or as soon as possible thereafter
We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced quantitative researcher with expertise in health services research and statistics to join an established multi-disciplinary research group led by Prof Sarah Purdy in the Centre for Academic Primary Care (CAPC), which is part of the School of Social and Community Medicine (SSCM) at the University of Bristol. It is open to researchers with a strong background in quantitative health care research and statistics applied within a healthcare context and an interest in the organisation and delivery of health services.
The post will entail working on an NIHR Health Services & Delivery Research (HS&DR) funded study which evaluates the effectiveness of ‘care bundles’ as a means of improving hospital care and reducing hospital readmission for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The quantitative researcher employed on the project will be required to set up and co-ordinate data collection from a variety of hospitals across England & Wales, with the goal of informing the quantitative elements of this mixed-methods ‘controlled before-and-after’ study. The researcher’s key responsibilities will be the planning and oversight of data collection, ensuring data quality and confidentiality, undertaking data analysis and drafting reports and papers.
