This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced statistician to join the NIHR Research Design Service at Imperial College as a maternity cover for six months. You will work as part of a team to provide high quality statistical advice to clinical research staff and students in the Faculty of Medicine and across NHS institutions in NW London. The post is funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR).
Applicants should have a postgraduate degree or equivalent in statistics and substantial experience of applied statistics, and be familiar with providing advice on medical statistics to clinicians and other health professionals. In addition applicants should possess communication, organisation and problem-solving skills. Familiarity with the design, management, regulatory requirements and statistical analysis of data in clinical trials, public health or epidemiological research is desirable.
The London Research Design Service (RDS) aims to support applicants, particularly those from the NHS and academic sector, who are applying for research funding from NIHR schemes. The London RDS is led by King's College London with spokes at Imperial College, University College and Queen Mary's University of London. The post holder will work with members of the RDS team and other researchers within the Department.
The post holder will be a member of the Research Design Service within the Department of Primary Care and Public Health (Head, Professor Azeem Majeed) in the School of Public Health (Head, Professor Elio Riboli). The appointee will be based at the Charing Cross Hospital campus in Hammersmith but the role will require frequent travel to other campuses. The post holder will be expected to play a full and active role in the academic life of the Department.
This full-time position is a for a fixed term of six-months (up to 9 April 2015) in the first instance (maternity cover).
