Hi,
Does anyone have a standard process in their trust for matching patients between clinical systems based on the core demographics which they'd be prepared to share?
I'm thinking of the situation where you have a patient record on one system and you query another for matching patients. What criteria are used to automatically accept a match? What criteria would lead to the match being put into an exception list for manual consideration?
Taking this a little further, once a possible match has been sent to an exception list, what actions are taken to confirm / refute the match and confirm which system holds the correct information?
I've found some guidance in blood transfusion guidelines although they leave the detail to 'local policies'.
Jonathan, is there anything at the national level in this area?
Thanks,
Mark
