Role Overview
Since 1987, AMEC has specialised in building cost-effective decision support and operational productivity tools that integrate Environmental Information Systems, Asset Management Systems and GIS with traditional software applications. The AMEC information management team currently includes 170 GIS (geographic information system), remote sensing and database specialists operating worldwide.
We are currently seeking a full time GIS/Information Management - Assistant Consultant to contribute to the delivery of AMEC’s Information Management services. The job role will be based in AMEC’s office in Shrewsbury and the successful candidate will support the delivery of consultancy work delivered by the AMEC’s Environmental group within the UK.
Key Responsibilities
• Delivery of GIS analysis work across a wide range of environmental assessment studies;
• Development of ArcGIS scripts, models and tools with a particular focus on environmental and infrastructure projects;
• Development of web mapping applications using ESRI and Open Source software;
• Acting as GIS/data management co-ordinator for major environmental studies;
• Advise project managers on GIS methods and potential solutions; and
• Provide input into the development of new GIS/Information management services across AMEC
Role Requirements
• Degree or further degree (MSc) in GIS/Geomatics or equivalent
• Previous knowledge and experience of using ESRI ArcGIS and extensions
• Experience of using ESRI ArcGIS for Server, JavaScript API and ArcGIS online.
• GIS based coding skills – including Python and/or VB.NET coding.
• Experience in working with databases such as MS Access and SQL server.
• Knowledge of Open Source desktop and web mapping GIS software.
• Adaptable and flexible in order to work alone or as part of a team.
The nature of AMEC’s worldwide business means that the successful candidate may be expected to undertake ad-hoc short term, secondment and/or longer term placements.
