Here at inVentiv Health Clinical we are recruiting for a Bioinformatics expert to provide dedicated resource to our client’s Data Sciences Discovery department. This would be a great opportunity for someone with experience and knowledge across Bioinformatics and Statistics to utilise their expertise with a global pharmaceutical company and in a position that offers excellent flexibility.
As a Bioinformatics Expert you will be providing support to ongoing projects. The work can be carried out from either a home office or within an inVentiv Health Clinical office location across Western Europe and as the work is estimated to be around 25 hours per week this could be well suited to someone looking for work on a consultancy/freelance basis.
Working on drug discovery projects, the aim is to develop innovative medicines for neurological and psychiatric diseases. By applying skills in biology, statistics and IT you will convert the raw data (electroencephalogram (EEG) and electromyogram (EMG)) into scientific knowledge. This involves data analysis, quality control, interpretation and communication. The projects convey scope for exploratory data mining, software application development and cross functional collaboration (e.g., Translational Medicine, Statistics and Engineering).
Primary Tasks
• Quality control of individual data sources
• Outlier analysis
• Comparisons to match study design and statistical analysis using in-house software and SAS
• Creation of standard TFL’s in MS Word and PowerPoint using in-house software and SAS
• Report writing
To be considered for this position candidates will ideally have the following background:
• Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, statistics or IT (preferably stats over IT)
• Basic knowledge of statistics
• Able to support IT, computational biology, or bioinformatics areas
• Good learning agility, proactivity, organizational skills, verbal and written communication skills
• General skills: understand database design, working with IT departments, excellent communication skills
• Post-graduate experience or qualifications
• Hands-on research in life sciences
• Knowledge of programming languages commonly used in life sciences/statistics, e.g. SAS, SQL, MatLab, R, C#
• In vivo electrophysiology
• Digital signal processing
The position will be offered either through a contract of employment (competitive salary) or on a freelance basis, for an initial period of 12 months.
