Authenticity in Transition: Changing Practices in Contemporary Art Making and Conservation
Organised by the University of Glasgow, and the Glasgow School of Art, this two-day conference will take the shape of an intense workshop with short talks, comments and discussion, all concerning how changing artistic practice affects our interpretation, conservation, and curation of contemporary art, with a special reference to a shifting concept of authenticity and artistic intent.
The programme is aimed at conservators, curators, researchers, museum professionals, artists and students in the field of contemporary art making, conservation, curation, research.

We will shortly announce our programme with international speakers from conservation, museums, private sector, and artists, discussing this fascinating and urgent topic.
Panels may include
• The artist’s view on processes, materials, collaboration, preservation.
• Shifting authenticities of process and materiality in contemporary art practice.
• Collaborative, participatory, performative, social processes in contemporary art production.
• Distributed practices: from fabrication and collaboration to authorship.
• Innovation: Smart materials and collaborative practices with scientists, engineers and designers.
• Historical perspectives: impacts of changing artistic practice on conservation, curation and art history e.g. the impact of digital technology.
