The use of an T or F contrasts, it depends of your inference criterion.
If you want to compare the means perform a T test.
If you want to compare the variance perform a F test.
I recommend a T-test in your case, and an F-test when you have more than two groups (remember the F is the basics of an ANOVA).
A trick, you can use a Ftest an plot a columns char and see differences between activations of each group. Just write eye(2) and then select IC95% option, and remember to select the significative cluster or peak level in your T contrast.
