Mentoring - Personal Mentoring and Career Development for Poets
Start at any time.
Duration – 12 units The Course – Personal Mentoring. Ideas are discussed and foundations for poems developed with assistance and developing critique in working through drafts to completed poems. This is a mentoring experience and will work with strengths and identify weaknesses in writing style; all content will be chosen to meet the needs of the student. The mentoring is over a period of 12 sessions, at the end of that you should have portfolio of 8 to 10 poems which are complete and further poems in draft which are being worked through. The purpose of this course is to offer individual mentoring and the time taken will depend on the individual, with each depending on the speed of the student.
People wishing to take this course do not require any previous qualifications; they do however need to be able to identify themselves as writers. Those who have previously taken the Poetry Kit Poetry 1 or 2 courses will find this a natural development but it is not necessary to have done either to get the most out of this course.
Fee – The course fee is £110 (UK£)
The Tutor - The course is presented by Jim Bennett who is a highly experienced lecturer having delivered courses in creative writing for the University of Liverpool, Edge Hill University and for the WEA. Jim is a full time professional poet who earns his living from writing poetry, giving readings and lecturing. He has won many awards over a forty year writing career.
