Afternoon everyone
Thanks for getting in touch about this.
I can confirm that we will use the Open Ed SIG slot as outlined on the conference timetable.
I had a chat with Alastair on Monday and we have come up with a draft agenda for the 'event'.
Co-chairs: Sarah Bridgman and Alastair Clark
1. Introductions (Sarah)
2. The SIG - What it is and what are our aims (Alastair)
3. Examples of activity - Webinars (It would be great if anyone who led/will lead a webinar could speak for two minutes just to highlight what their one is about - any takers?)
4. Open discussion (All - AC to facilitate)
5. OER15 (Debbie?)
6. Close
We envisage that the open discussion will draw on educational issues raised throughout the conference. We may also make mention of how the SIG can fund other open education initiatives through the use of a surplus from OERXX conferences.
What do you think? I welcome feedback :)
I suggested it may be nice to have some promotional material to hand out at the end of the session - just a simple business card with our logo (Alex?), our mission and a URL to the Open Ed SIG page on the ALT website. Do you think this is a good idea?
Looking forward to seeing those of you who can make it!
Best wishes
Sarah

Hi all,
I note that the Open Ed SIG slot is on the conference timetable at 4-5 on the Tuesday (Day 2) in Room 0.18 - https://www.alt.ac.uk/alt-conference/altc2014/conference-programme
So like Alistair I think it would be good to use the slot we have been allocated.
Great to see plans for it emerging already.
Cheers,
Haydn

Subject: Open ED SIG Committee event at ALT-C
Good afternoon everyone
I hope you are enjoying what has turned out to be an above-average summer :)
I wanted to check whether there's still an appetite for holding an 'event' at ALT-C in September?
There hasn't been much movement with the Google Doc: https://docs.google.com/document/d/18lWnQML0PNxXiIMiG-x33OH99LLWtlgiN2jRD_qEe7s/edit?usp=sharing
To summarise what the key messages of the event *could* be:
That understanding Open Education is a key skill for professionals at all levels of education (FE Adult Ed, WBL and HE) . (AC)
The SIG has a mission to make this world accessible by offering useful interventions (AC) The SIG hopes to contribute to building useful policies and practice at institutional, sector and national levels. (AC) It would be useful to develop a framework at different levels to help those interested see where they can contribute - DH Shall we continue with our ‘collecting’ of excellent resources for OER week 2015?
So I'm wondering whether the event should be a simple meet n' greet session to promote the SIG and what we do.
Does anyone have any contact with the conference organisers so I can see whether we can be allocated a room or space?
It would be nice to have some leaflets or cards about the SIG - do these already exist?
Any advice is welcome.
Best wishes
Sarah
