Dear List
The Yorkshire Dales Mining Museum is fast approaching apoint where we can no longer stay open. We do not have sufficient income tocover insurance and the rent bonus that our land lords “The Windle Trust”demand. It is a sad outcome after the mining group oversaw the renovation andsaving of the 16th century old grammar school and in effect broughtabout our own end. That said we are still looking for any source of funds which“may” keep the museum going or at worst fund the closing down costs and safestorage or transfer of all the artefacts.
Any suggestions or help would be gratefully appreciated.
It has been difficult to get enough visitors due the position of the museum on thelimit of the mining fields and the dales.
Our options seem to be:-
Findanother income source/sponsor.
Transferthe artifacts to other museums in the dales.
Take a selection of the artefactsto events such Agricultural shows and hope that donations would fund thestorage of the artifacts. (If they wont come to us, take it to them)
Regards
Ian Spensley
