italian-studies: Scholarly discussions in any field of Italian studies
Dear All,
The following CfP might be of interest to some of you.
Call for papers: Postgraduate Network of Italian Studies in Scotland Symposium
University of Glasgow, 3 October 2014
We are delighted to announce the second annual symposium of postgraduate students of Italian studies in Scotland, which will take place at the University of Glasgow on the 3 October 2014.
The aim of the symposium is to create a network of postgraduate students in Italian studies from Scottish universities in order to share knowledge and experiences. The format will be fairly informal, with each student required to speak for 10 minutes and to present an overview of his or her research. Every presentation will then be followed by 15 minutes of questions, discussion, and feedback from the audience.
In addition to discussing our own work, we will hear two keynote addresses from Dr Penny Morris (University of Glasgow) and Dr Andrea Hajek, British Academy Postdoctorate Research Fellow (University of Glasgow) about publishing in academic journals and applying for postdoctoral positions.
If you are interested in attending, please send an abstract of 250 words detailing the topic of your research and a short biographical statement by 1 September 2014 to [log in to unmask] The information you include will vary depending on the stage you are at: those at the beginning of the PhD can talk about what they hope to achieve in their research and those further along in the process can give a more detailed description of the work they have carried out and future projects.
