Salary: Grade 10a (36s): £44,620 - £59,914 p.a.
Oxford Department of International Development, Queen Elizabeth House, 3 Mansfield Road, Oxford, in association with St Cross College, St Giles', Oxford
Start date: 1 September 2015 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Applications are invited for an Associate Professorship of Refugee Studies and Forced Migration. The post is permanent and full-time. The appointment will be made in association with a non-tutorial fellowship at St Cross College.
The post-holder will teach on the MSc in Refugee and Forced Migration Studies and on the MPhil in Development Studies and will supervise doctoral students in the Department. S/he will also be an integral member of the Refugee Studies Centre (RSC), a constituent element of the Department of International Development, and the leading academic research centre on refugee and forced migration issues in the world.
Applicants should have a doctorate in Anthropology, Development Studies, Geography, or Sociology, with a strong focus on forced migration, an outstanding research and publication record, commensurate with stage of academic career, in one of the above-mentioned disciplines and in areas related to forced migration, and a proven capacity for qualitative fieldwork, with a focus on the lived experiences of forced migrants and expertise in a major region of forced migration, in particular Africa, Asia, or the Middle East. Candidates should also have considerable university teaching experience in forced migration at postgraduate level, including thesis supervision.
