The Neuroinformatics Group and Neurocognition and Action Group at the
Center of Excellence “Cognitive Interaction Technology” (CITEC,
Bielefeld University, Germany) invite applications for an open research
assistant position (PhD student
or PostDoc, 100% E 13 TV-L) in an interdisciplinary project in the area
of EEG, eye tracking, and brain–machine interfaces.
We are seeking an outstanding candidate who is interested in multi-modal
interface design and data analysis, machine learning, signal processing
and brain-machine interfaces.
We are particularly interested in applicants with background and
training in computer science, electrical engineering or related fields.
Successful candidates must hold a MSc degree (or equivalent) in computer
science or a related field. Applicants are expected to have experience
with signal processing and machine learning techniques on
(neuro)physiological data as well as very good programming skills (C++,
MATLAB, Python). Experience with experimental work (EEG and/or eye
tracking studies) is desired, but not obligatory. We expect a high
motivation to work in an interdisciplinary team, the ability to work
independently, strong interpersonal skills as well as a good command of
English. Knowledge of German is not
essential. The position is initially funded for one year and can be
extended for two more years. The payment is based on
E 13 TV-L. The successful candidate is expected to start work on 01
November 2014.
The position is embedded in the Neuroinformatics Group within CITEC at
Bielefeld University. It involves a close collaboration with the
Neurocognition and Action Group. CITEC provides a unique environment to
perform cutting-edge research in an international context. Applicants
will receive structured supervision and support through the
collaboration with the
project partners at CITEC, in particular Prof. Dr. Helge Ritter
(Neuroinformatics Group) and Prof. Dr. Thomas Schack (Neurocognition and
Action Group).
