Subject: Beijing +20: Will it ignore Women & Girls with Disabilities?

As you are all too aware, women & girls with disabilities are frequently
left out of the conversation - worldwide - during important policy making
decisions. The question before us with <http://beijing20.unwomen.org/>
Beijing +20 remains: Will the principals remember these vital citizens, or
render us invisible as well?

Beijing +20 will assess progress from 189 UN Member States' and other
stakeholders' commitments from the 1995
<http://www.un.org/womenwatch/daw/beijing/fwcwn.html> Fourth World
Conference on Women in Beijing. Since then, the UN
<http://www.un.org/womenwatch/daw/csw/> Commission on the Status of Women
(CSW) has played a central role in reviewing and appraising progress
achieved and problems encountered in implementing the
<http://www.un.org/womenwatch/daw/beijing/platform/> Beijing Declaration and
Platform for Action - the most comprehensive global policy framework to
achieve the goals of gender equality, development and peace, which world
leaders committed to in 12 critical areas.

The next review will take place at
<http://www.unwomen.org/en/csw/csw59-2015> the 59th Session of the CSW, in
March 2015, and it is essential that the inclusion of the rights of women
and girls with disabilities have a prominent place in this review!
%20The%20Situation%20of%20Women%20and%20Girls%20with%20Disabilities%20May%20
28,%202014-2.docx> You can see from Women Enabled International's analysis
that the inclusion of women and girls with disabilities in the Beijing + 20
review is provided for within the provisions of both the Convention on the
Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), and the Beijing Declaration and
Platform for Action, among other international and regional treaties.

NGOs globally are encouraged to communicate with their governments prior to
the 59th CSW - particularly women's organizations. The more we engage with
our governments, the more likely women and girls with disabilities will be
included as a notable topic of discussion at the Beijing +20 Review.

Please tell any - and all - mission-related nonprofits you are affiliated
with that they can email input on this important issue to
<mailto:[log in to unmask]> [log in to unmask] We invite you to
<http://womenenabled.org/pdfs/WEI-Beijing+20-Women-Girls-Disabilities-US-Que
stions-Comments-Jul2014.doc> review what Women Enabled International has
submitted regarding the United States as an example, and we'd appreciate it
if you copy us on the correspondence at <mailto:[log in to unmask]>

Thank you for all that you do on behalf of women and girls with disabilities
everywhere.

Dear all, I am doing research and looking for studies on access to health care services, especially sexual and reproductive health care services, for women and girls with disabilities in the United States. This research is on this specific issue and focused on the United States. If you have done any such study, quantative, qualitative and/or a legal analysis, please share!

Thank you.
