Explore Your Archive 2014: Social Media Training
A series of training sessions on Social Media have been set up in England, Scotland and Ireland* by the ARA and The National Archives as part of the preparation for the Explore Your Archive 2014 campaign.
Hands-on training sessions in fully-equipped IT rooms in city centre locations are being offered as follows:
London: 8 September
Manchester: 9 September
Edinburgh: 15 September
Dublin: 18 September
In EACH venue, there will be a morning session at 10.30 for social media beginners (how to set up a Twitter and Facebook account, how to take the first few steps) and an afternoon session at 2.30 for those who have accounts, have used social media but want to gain confidence and get more out of these tools.
The social media strategy for the Explore Your Archive November campaign will also be referred to in the training (and will be issued separately to the sector).
Demand is expected to be high; only one person from each service is asked to apply. The cost is £20 per session for ARA members and non-members.
Book your place online at http://www.archives.org.uk/events/events/training
Please make clear which session (morning for beginners, afternoons for the more experienced) you would like to attend.
(*Colleagues in Wales are reminded that social media is included in forthcoming ‘Digital Marketing’ training offers from CyMAL: Museums Archives and Libraries Wales.
