Dear colleagues,
I'd like to draw your attention to the following vacancies for 2 archives assistants at the Royal College of Nursing Archives based in Edinburgh.
Just imagine what you could do at the Royal College of Nursing
At the Royal College of Nursing we’re an optimistic organisation. And we’ve got good reason to be. We all share the same voice when it comes to changing the shape of the health policies of the future. And as the largest trade union of nursing staff and students in the UK – with around 415,000 members – all we can see are the infinite possibilities for a brighter future. Join us and you will too.
We’re number 26 in The Sunday Times 100 Best Not for Profit Organisations to work for, with Best Companies Accreditation for 2014 and are accredited with Investors in People Gold Standard.
Archives Assistant 17.5 hours per week, (Wednesday-Friday), permanent role.
Archives Assistant 35 hours per week, fixed-term appointment until 10 January 2015.
In this role in the RCN’s Archives team you’ll use your enthusiasm, positivity and customer service skills to deliver an exceptional service to our users and to be an essential part of our team.
Every day will be varied and filled with possibilities. You will get involved in anything from accessioning to helping with exhibition preparation. We'll look to you to answer enquiries, maintain administrative records and assist researchers in accessing our collections physically or electronically. It's a great way to build on your skills and experience and develop your potential.
You’ll also be involved with organisational wide projects, assisting with the provision of learning and development activities and building key cross team relationships.
We expect you to do your best for our members and customers. And we expect you to be rewarded for it. As well as a whole range of learning and development opportunities we can also offer you an impressive range of benefits. We have a highly competitive pay structure, as well as flexible working, and annual leave of up to 32 days (pro rata).
To join us you’ll need strong administration, IT and communication skills and, ideally, a background in a relevant area such as archives or records / heritage administration. You will be able to find, use, manage and evaluate information quickly and help others do so.
Whatever your background, you'll be efficient, accurate and show a real customer focus in all you do.
To succeed at the Royal College of Nursing all you need to do is think bigger, better and brighter. And with an attitude like that, anything’s possible.
