As I think everyone is now aware, throughout the consultation and the recent online discussions a range of very different views on governance have been expressed. Responses from the consultation broadly supported the draft proposals and Council would have been widely and rightly criticised if it had ignored this feedback. I do wonder what is the point of consultation if you ignore the results?
The current online debate has included a number of other ideas and preferences, many of which conflict with those expressed during the consultation. We have been following this with interest. Unlike those with a specific preferred model of governance CILIP Council has to find a way forward that will meet as many of these often conflicting views as it can.
Since its meeting CILIP Council has continued to reflect and consider how the issues can be best brought forward for members to decide upon at the AGM and we will be able to share our conclusions with members shortly.
