italian-studies: Scholarly discussions in any field of Italian studies
Dear colleagues,
The 'Memory, History & Identity' research cluster of the Department of
Politics, Languages and International Studies, University of Bath, UK,
invites you to attend a workshop on "Constructing the Nation -
Rhetoric and Memory in European Regions Seeking Statehood", on Friday
11 July, 11:00-17:00.
Details of the location and programme may be found at:
http://www.bath.ac.uk/polis/events/news_0071.html
The workshop sets this September?s referendum on Scottish independence
in a wider European context, elaborating and juxtaposing different
arguments for independence and discursive constructions of nationhood
across the UK (Scotland, Wales, Yorkshire), Southern Europe (Catalonia,
Northen Italy) and regions aspiring to autonomy or statehood in Eastern
Europe.
There is no specific Italian focus to the workshop, but we would
particularly welcome colleagues working on issues of regional identity
in Italian Studies, and wish to explore possibilities of collaboration.
The event is free to attend and all are welcome. So that we have an
indication of numbers attending, those wishing to attend should,
however, email Hannah Cook <[log in to unmask]>.
Best wishes,
Adalgisa Giorgio
