Internship details:
TERMS OF REFERENCE
Duty Station: RO Cairo, Egypt
Position Title: Intern: Technical / Admin Support - Labour Migration & Development
Classification: Intern
Type of Appointment: Four (4) months, with possibility of extension
General functions:
Under the overall supervision of the Regional Director (RD), and the direct supervision of the Regional Thematic Specialist for Labour Migration and Human Development (RTS LHD), the incumbent will provide technical and administrative support to IOM's Regional Office for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), with a particular focus on Labour Migration and Migration & Development activities. In particular, he/she will:
. Coordinate with partner organizations to identify an action plan as well as roles and responsibilities relating to the development of the micro-lending/donation platform being developed by Silatech and IOM. Develop materials as may be required to promote the initiative to donors and the general public;
. Promote IOM's image and activities in the MENA region, through the development of information material (including factsheets, flash reports, annual reports, etc.). Coordinate the production of the Regional Periodic Report. Prepare and collate general and specific information on IOM's activities as requested by donors/external parties, IOM Missions, HQ and other internal counterparts.
. Help to establish a community of users and produce content for the MENA migration research blog.
. Support the updating and regional contextualization of IOM materials including IOM Training Modules on Labour Migration and Migration & Development;
. Assist in the identification of new program/project possibilities consistent with expressed Government needs and IOM's mandate and strategy in the region; on this basis, assist in the formulation/development of project proposals and collection of requested documentation for submission to donors, according to IOM project development guidelines and procedures, as requested;
. Assist in reviewing draft project proposals and donor reports submitted by COs for approval for submission/endorsement, as requested;
. Assist in overall implementation and preparation of workshops and other relevant activities organized by the RO, as requested, including booking venues, making travel and accommodation arrangements for trainers, compiling/editing materials, inviting guests, taking notes during workshops, writing post-workshop reports;
. Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Desirable qualifications:
. University degree in progress in Economics, Political Science, Law or any other relevant field. Master's degree preferred. Higher studies in migration issues would be an asset.
. Relevant work experience is an advantage.
. Fluent in English with excellent writing skills; knowledge of Arabic or French is an asset.
. Excellent knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
. Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
. Good team player.
