We need a title and very short blurb for the tutorial on RDF APs at
DC2014. Here's my draft:
RDF does not natively provide rules for structuring descriptions or
validating instance data. This tutorial will present the problems of of
data structuring and validation in RDF. There will be a discussion
current techniques that are being proposed (SPIN, Data Shapes, ICV,
etc.). Using examples from the cultural heritage community (Europeana
Data Model, DPLA data model, etc.), speakers will present actual cases
where validation and record-like structuring is needed. It will relate
these efforts to the concept of application profiles, drawing on some
existing examples, such as the Dublin Core Application Profiles and
BIBFRAME Profiles.
******
[I presume that we will also want to identify learning goals and a
target audience, but I haven't been asked for that yet. Stuart?]
possible titles:
RDF Validation and Application Profiles
RDF Validation in the Cultural Heritage Community
(Those are suggested short titles for the program grid. I believe we can
have a longer and perhaps more "promotional" title for the longer
workshop description entry.)
Please comment, correct, or counter with your own suggestions. Soon,
however, at least for the title.
