I noted on BBC Four on Monday a programme about the commonwealth on film
(episode 4). Quite a bit about radio broadcasting, though not from the
Caribbean. However, perhaps the producers know of other sources?

Hello Darrell, hope all is well with you, have you tried the National Sound
Archive? They may be able to help?
Regards,
Tim O'Sullivan.

Importance: High
Greeting everyone,
As I did about four years ago, I'm sending out this message in the hopes
that someone can help me. I'm still trying to find any recordings of the
BBC's Calling the Caribbean show from the 1950s, forward.
I have copies of scripts from the WAC, and transcripts of discussions
retrieved from the British Library. I've also found letters and programming
notes at the UWI Port of Spain archives. However, I can't locate any of the
musical recordings.
I realize that not very many survived the war, and few were recorded in the
first place. However, I'm working on an essay and I need to determine if
anything new may have been uncovered in the last few years.
Thoughts, anyone?

Dear Darrell
This was produced by Associated Rediffusion, presented by Dan Farson and
covered single issues in each show, e.g. Single Mothers, Kleptomaniacs,
Suicides, Stammering and Sex education. The one you want, I think, is Mixed
Marriages tx. 21/05/58. and there is a copy in the British Film Institute's
National Film and TV Archive.

Hi everyone, and Happy New Year,
Is anyone familiar with the 1958 ITV programme, People in Trouble? It seems
to be the only available example of ITV programming that directly addresses
racial assimilation in the 1950s. Does anyone know how to obtain a copy?
Further, does anyone know of any other examples of ITV shows that address
race relations and/or the 'immigrant problem?'

Darrell
I can help with one name, Peter Thompson, who was head of outside broadcasts
for many years through the 50s and 60s at BBC Scotland - although in 1951 he
might have held a slightly lower position.
Hope this helps.

Everyone,
It's me again, attempting to indentify a few names within my notes.
Please see the attached memo. While I surely know who Goldie, Noordhof,
Kennish and Swallow are, I'm unclear on the others, and their significance.
Can anyone help, please?
Oh, how I wish the BBC would digitize its staff listings....
