The John Lewis Partnership has an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Archivist to join the organisation on a fixed term basis to assist the professional and volunteer teams at the new Heritage Centre in Cookham, Berkshire. This position would be an excellent opportunity for a graduate seeking practical experience before applying to one of the postgraduate courses in archive administration. Duties will include assisting with the business and textile design collections, providing an enquiry and reprographics service, supporting collection processing, assisting in outreach activity and front of house cover at the Centre.
The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate an interest in archives and business or design history with good communication, customer service, administration and IT skills. The appointment is for one year in the first instance from September 2014.

Please note the location of the Heritage Centre is not easily accessed by public transport . The role requires regular weekend working on a rota and the ability to assist with the flexible opening hours of the Centre.
