Dear colleagues,
we have a small number of quarter inch QIC tape mini cartridges, but no QIC drive readily available, so we are thinking - for the first time - of outsourching the data imaging to an external service provider.
What we need is a bitstream image, which then can be analysed and processed for digital archiving, using FTK.
As you would expect, data security, data integrity and handling of data in accordance with data protection requirements are the key...
Has anyone worked with service providers in a similar context, and could recommend a company?
It would also be very interesting to get an idea of which kind of agreements/contracts with service providers are used in outsourcing data transfer of born-digital archival material, especially in terms of general data protection and handling personal/sensitive data.
So if anyone is willing to share their template agreement for reference, or has suggestions of which provisions should be made in such agreements - any ideas are very welcome.
Obviously, I am happy to provide an abstract of ideas/recommendations for the list (if there is a general interest?), or to treat any suggestions as confidential, should you wish so.
Many thanks in advance,
Svenja
