Pragmatic Clinical Trials Unit,

Barts & The London School of Medicine & Dentistry,
Queen Mary, University of London
We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, well-organised statistician to join the expanding, UKCRC-registered Pragmatic Clinical Trials Unit, located in the Centre for Primary Care and Public Health and linked with the Centre for Psychiatry. This Unit supports high quality clinical trials and pilot studies that fit with the research strategies of these two Centres and also carries out methodological work related to trials. You will be joining a team of 13 statisticians currently working within the Centre for Primary Care and Public Health working on a variety of trials and observational studies. The Unit has particular expertise in pragmatic trials - trials of interventions as they would be delivered in practice - and has an international reputation for its work on cluster-randomised trials and trials of complex interventions.
The purpose of this post is to contribute to the work of the Pragmatic Clinical Trials Unit in leading, supporting and encouraging high quality research. The post will involve contributing to trial protocols, participating in trial steering committees, developing statistical analysis plans, conducting statistical analyses, and liaising with other researchers and health professionals within and outside the Centre for Primary Care and Public Health. In addition you will contribute to a small amount of teaching, and carry out some methodological work. You will possess a higher degree in statistics or equivalent, have some experience of medical research and a good knowledge of clinical trial design and analysis. You will need to be able to write reports and papers, and to work to required deadlines. You will also be a strong and enthusiastic communicator about the value of sound statistical approaches. Flexibility in work undertaken and the ability to work unsupervised or as part of a team are essential.
