Salary Range: £32,750 - £41,540 per annum

The Health Protection Research Unit in Healthcare Associated Infection and Antimicrobial Resistance, based within the Department of Medicine, is seeking an exceptional post-doctoral researcher to join as an Early Career Research Fellow.
As an Early Career Fellow you will benefit from mentorship from world-leading academics who will support you in establishing independence in a nurturing environment, with a clear path to an academic career. You will be expected to successfully apply for personal fellowships with the help of the Department’s grant support mechanisms which include expert assistance with grant writing and costing, internal peer review, and mock interviews to maximise success. The Department of Medicine has a strong track record in securing funding; recent successes include a number of Junior and Senior Research Fellowships.
You should have a strong academic track record in applied data linkage, syndromic surveillance or modelling and a first or upper second class degree and a PhD, or equivalent, in Epidemiology, Statistics, Health Services Research or a related numerate subject. You should have quantitative skills and be published in high quality journals and be taking your first steps towards an independent research career. You will have exceptional written and oral communication skills with the ability to present to a high standard, and the ability to write clearly and succinctly for publication.
Your application should include a short proposal (max. 1000 words) outlining a piece of applied Infectious Diseases research that you could pursue, which with a view to developing an application for a personal research fellowship. The purpose of the proposal is to demonstrate your ability to produce innovative and independent research ideas, and your written communication skills.
