A South London local authority is offering an excellent opportunity for a qualified archivist to manage the borough’s archive collections and assist in developing, implementing and promoting the services of the Local Studies and Archive Centre.
This post is initially set to run until January 2015 with the possibility of further lengthy extension. The post is part time, 25 hours per week and offers a degree of flexibility regarding when these hours are worked.
In this rounded role you will take responsibility for:
Undertaking the day-to-day professional work associated with the identification, acquisition, preservation of records
Cataloguing the archive collections onto the electronic archive management systems
Providing professional guidance and support on the archives service, records management and retention to all directorates and external customers
Providing professional support in the marketing and promotion of the Local Studies and Archives Service outreach programme, maintaining regular contact with groups and organisations and facilitate visits to the Centre.
Assisting with the development of an effective Records Management programme.
You will need to hold a professional archives qualification, or equivalent experience. Previous experience of outreach archives services is desirable but not essential. This role would either suit a newly qualified archives professional or someone with more established experience.
Actual salary for 25 hours: £17,975-£20,541 per annum (£25,000-£29,000 FTE)
