Hi Michelle
In my experience the post is an 8a when a clinical person has the title and more often than not a band 7 when you are a BMS.

Subject: POCT co-ordinator banding
Dear POCT subsrcibers
I have recently been appointed POCT co-ordinator at Blackpool, and the post is currently up for banding review. It was advertised as a 7, but the managers are hoping for it to become an 8a. Does anyone have any input as to how their role was banded? Were JAQs used, or was the job description written to match the band? I seem to understand that there are a number of band 7 and band 8a POCT co-ordinators throughout the UK.
Regards
Michelle
