The Department of Marketing Management at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM), seeks applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level. The position will involve applying techniques from network science and machine learning to interdisciplinary questions involving big data from marketing and business sources, as well as from neuroscientific measurements (fMRI).
The selected candidate will preferably work on collaborative projects involving both quantitative modeling of real-world marketing data, as well as projects involving the modeling of fMRI data in relation to consumer choice. We seek applicants who can demonstrate excellence in scholarly research and competence in teaching (proficiency in English is required), and who hold or are nearing completion of a PhD in a relevant field.
We are specifically looking for someone with excellent quantitative skills and with a keen interest to apply his/her quantitative skills to the analyses of big data from various sources (market and brain). The selected candidate will work across teams: one group of researchers involved in quantitative modeling of market data, and another team involved in research on consumer neuroscience and neuroeconomics (PI: Prof. Ale Smidts).
Position Qualifications:
• Ph.D., with a background in engineering, physics, psychology, neuroscience, econometrics, statistics, computer science / machine learning, information sciences, mathematics, biostatistics, or a related field.
• Strong quantitative skills required, including, but not limited to statistical analysis skills (e.g., in R, Matlab, SPSS, SAS, other) and programming skills (e.g., in Matlab, C++, Python).
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, as well as in a team and be proactive in problem solving.
• Demonstrated ability to work on multiple tasks and projects, developing solutions to basic technical problems.
• Successful publication record.
Successful candidates may also have:
• Previous experience or working knowledge with fMRI data (e.g., SPM, FSL or other imaging analysis package) or experience working with network science.
