The Department of Computer Science is seeking to appoint a Lecturer (equivalent to Assistant Professor) in Computer Science and is particularly interested in individuals who have proven experience in Verification and Validation and have a relevant doctorate.
Candidates should have a strong track record in research that includes a good publication history, experience of bidding for external research funding and evidence of high quality teaching. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels and work effectively with other members of the Department in developing our vision to be, within the next decade, a top 10 centre in the UK for research and education in computer science and informatics.
The Department is an internationally recognised centre-of-excellence in applied computing. Our research is organised across three groups:
Centre for Systems and Software
Centre for Intelligent Data Analysis
Centre for Systems and Synthetic Biology
The successful appointee will be expected to join a relevant research theme in a University Research Institute.
We also actively work with a range of public and private sector collaborators to ensure that our research is timely, relevant and has a positive impact on society. The Department comprises over 40 academics, and over 140 PhD students. In the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise the Department was ranked top in the UK in terms of 'Research Power' in the LIM Unit of Assessment.
We offer exciting degree programmes in Computer Science and Business Computing, pioneering novel approaches to teaching and interaction with students including our use of individual robots.
