Hi Simon
You could try this group:

I'm sure someone will be engaging in this service.
Companies wise - Blackboard have something that you may be able to directly integrate with your VLE. Others are available but I'm not sure how integrated they are - e.g. JaNET; PageOne etc.
'Hope this helps

Subject: Programme-based texting networks?
Dear all,
I'm a learning technologist at Canterbury Christ Church University looking to support a pilot of VLE-based texting (SMS) at a course level with a view to improving communications with students, enabling relationship building and possibly enhancing learning & teaching.
Do you know of any networks, fora, mail lists or useful sites for people doing this?
Many thanks for any advice.
Si.
p.s. apologies for cross-posting here on JISCMail
