The museum photography group (AHFAP) has recently launched a fledgling Commercial Directory of Cultural Heritage photographers that are practising CH photographers working in the sector. To be listed you must be a member of AHFAP and be working in the sector.

Hi Alwyn,
There's a lot of interest in this area at the moment and a few companies charging a lot of money for their services.
However, the process is fairly straight forward and requires only a DSLR and some software. I've listed some of the Software I've used in the past with varying levels of success.

Just to share: We did this inhouse, photographing jewellery to be rotated 360 degrees: http://smycken.nordiskamuseet.se/smycken/iframe.html
They were photographed on an old turntable (for record players)! :)
72 images per piece of jewellery. It's an open source script used to rotate the images.
Best regards

Ämne: [MCG] 360 degree photography of collection items
We're looking into getting some collection items rotationally photographed (from 360 degrees, so that users can "spin" the photographs and observe the objects from every angle).
I'm having some difficulty finding professional photography companies with experience of working with museums who also offer rotational photography of collections. Does anyone on the MCG have experience of having objects 360 photographed? Any firms you can recommend getting a quote from, or hiccups you ran into?
Thanks,
Alwyn Collinson
