Hi Sophie,
I'm not a fan of Pure360 either, and although Mailchimp boasts a good
range of features, I find the email-designer functionality can be very
slow and clunky (especially when using custom HTML templates).
I much prefer using Campaign Monitor to send emails. They don't offer a
free service like Mailchimp do, but the segmentation, live-analytics and
user interface are very slick, clean and clear:

Their payment options are either subscription-based or PAYG, and their
online support files/tutorials are very helpful.
They offer Facebook tab support (like Mailchimp) and their optional
AJAX-powered sign up forms also allow a great amount of creative freedom
when integrating them into a website.
I will say though, that Campaign Monitor have a zero-tolerance policy
on bought email lists.
This is great for us as it means we can make sure that we don't get
embroiled in disputes about bought lists, we just say "Sorry, the system
doesn't allow it." which is always much nicer than having to say "We
don't think your approach to CRM is ethical."
Hope this helps :)
Cheers
Tom

We moved to Emailcenter after Pure360 who were fairly good until they decided to 'upgrade' their interface which basically ruined the user experience. We are now on Mailchimp and although there are some issues we have found it to be a good service with good customer service.
